Day 1: Patterns
Part I:
1. Receive group assignments, roles to play within your four-person group, and the creation stories you will be focusing on.
2. Review role descriptions on the evaluation page.
3. Review Group Work Guidelines on the evaluation page.
3. Review Day 1's Rubric, so you know what you will be graded on (also eval page).
4. A Graphic Organizer Google Doc has been shared with you. You will use this to record answers collaboratively with your group.
5. Go to The Big Myth.
6. Each person in your group should watch the video for all five of your focus stories.
7. Two students should be Particularists (focusing on how the myths are different). Two students should be Comparativists (focusing on how the myths are similar).
8. Discuss and collaboratively populate the boxes in the first graphic organizer. You should know the terms in the heading from our previous comparative mythology studies, but if you forget, feel free to look them up!
9. Highlight in red the story trait that showed up the most often.
10. These links should be helpful:
Part II:
1. Using the same stories, fill out the second graphic organizer together.
2. Highlight the similarities in red.
3. If time allows, try to find a different version of the creation myths on youtube. Are there any disparities between the tellings?
